Iggy Pop is set to lend his voice to a feature animation movie.
The punk legend’s guttural growl will feature on the English-language version of Sony Picture Classics' cartoon Persepolis.
The film is based on Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical novel about growing up in a turbulent Iran in the seventies. It has already been made into a French feature.
Pop’s role will be as the female lead’s rebellious uncle. The rocker joins the likes of Sean Penn, Gena Rowlands and Catherine Deneuve on the cast list.
The movie will be released Stateside in the autumn, with a European release expected shortly after.
