A highlight of his elegant if patchy debut record, Jarvis Cocker here embraces his paranoid inner garage rocker, recalling as this song does a lighter Stooges with the propulsive energy of early-REM. The song too maintains Cocker’s lyrical concerns, embracing the darkness once again, this time on the streets of London and giving us a sad, blackly comic murder jaunt. It's not quite genius, but it's tunefully dissonant and worthy of attention, if only to pay respects to this elder statesman and survivor.

    Released 16/07/07 on Rough Trade
