Busta Rhymes is set to stand trial four times for separate assault and driving offences.
The troubled rapper faces charges of drunk driving, assaulting an employee, driving with a suspended licence and assaulting a fan who allegedly spat on his car.
Judge Larry Stephen from the Manhattan District Court said that the charges could not be combined and that Rhymes should be tried separately.
Rhymes – real name Trevor Jones - will be tried consecutively on the four charges, starting on September 5.
Defence lawyer Scott Leemon says Rhymes is happy with the decision as they have a valid defence to all the cases.
