Exclusive: The Gossip Planning Two New Albums

Beth Ditto has revealed to Gigwise that The Gossip are currently planning two new albums for imminent release.

The exuberant front woman spoke to us just after the band had arrived to headline the John Peel tent on Sunday night at Glastonbury.

Speaking about the follow up to 2006’s ‘Standing In The Way Of Control’ she told us: “We’ve written like five songs, so half an album. I’m still not satisfied though.”

“There was talk of the fall but I don’t think that is realistic. I think winter maybe,” she added about a possible release date.

However, before then the Portland trio plan to record a separate record during their summer of European dates.

Ditto told us: “We’ve got some tricks up our sleeve to do a live album at the moment, which I think is really exciting.”

She went on: “We’re talking about (recording it) on maybe even this leg or on the next leg of the European tour.”

“I think it might be a British date or even a combination of dates which I think is best.”

Following their appearance at Glastonbury The Gossip are also set to play at T in the Park, Summercase, Oxegen and the Manchester International Festival.
