Pete Doherty has revealed that he was part of the two hundred strong crowd that invaded Iggy & The Stooges Glastonbury performance on Saturday (June 23rd).
Talking to 6music about his second Glastonbury experience – which included a performance with Babyshambles and a solo-acoustic show - Doherty said that his festival highlight was meeting Iggy Pop.
He said: “I got up there, I was jumping about and all that, and I saw this QPR shirt in the midst of all the turmoil. I made a bee-line for it and grabbed hold of him, and said ‘yeah! Come on you ‘R’s!’ Bad idea. He was like, ‘PETE! Gimmie your address! I’ll send you one!’”
Doherty also revealed that the Stooges frontman was a fan of his music. “I said to him, I’m not being funny, but you’re a great lyricist Mr Pop. He said, ‘yeah man, I’ve heard some of your stuff, I’ve heard the Libertines, but I prefer Babyshambles.’”
In the interview, the former Libertine also said that he and his supermodel girlfriend, Kate Moss, found a novel way to escape the paparazzi at the Worthy Farm site.
“Obviously walking around can be a bit of a hassle, so we got up in disguise. I had a poncho with long black wig, she had long black hair and make-up. We had a bit of a dance and it was alright.”
