Underworld had to cancel their performance at the Ejekt Festival in Athens on Saturday (June 16th) because of a rioting group of “anarchists.”
Certain members of the band, including keyboardist, Rick Smith, were caught up in the riot – which reportedly featured up to thirty masked individuals yielding irons bars and armed with CS-gas.
Smith - along with several other people – was hospitalised because of the incident, which took place as The Beastie Boys were performing at the festival.
Now back in the UK, Underworld have thanked fans across the world for their “emails text and phone calls” expressing their concern over the incident.
