The title 'Raise The Roof' implies a straight-up club banger, maybe even rhyming 'air' with 'don't care', but in fact is a slab of chilled-out dance so laid-back it's practically passed out on the dancefloor. The production is clean and unfussy with some Richard X-esque flourishes and more than a hint of Eurythmics, but as a song is something of a non-event. It's Thorn's voice which is the main attraction here: melancholic, authoritative, and sounding fresher than someone who's been 25 years between albums really should. Tracey Thorn is one of the great British female artists, but removed from the context of the album 'Out of the Woods', this track fails to shine.
