The positioning of Hadouken! as a 'marmite' band is clever, but frustrating: while encouraging everyone to jump one way or the other in the name of publicity, ambivalence really is an option. One can admire some of the superb lyrics and pulverising energy, while deploring the almost complete lack of melody and the devastating similarity to previous single 'That Boy That Girl'. An entire album of this will probably be cleared for use at Guantanamo, but in a club this - and especially the Pirate Soundsystem mix - is sufficiently, relentlessly exuberant to bypass criticism.
Released 25/06/07 on Atlantic Records
