No Doubt are to return to the studio next week to record their first album in six years although Gwen Stefani won’t be taking part.
Stefani is currently touring her last solo album ‘The Sweet Escape’ on a huge North American tourbut that hasn’t stopped the remaining members of No Doubt working on new material.
Adrian Young told Rolling Stone: “The three of us are going to lay down some songs with music only. When she gets done with the tour we’ll all be there to do it. We’ve probably got four albums worth of ideas demoed.”
He added that the new songs were “unlike anything else we ever made – they’re all over the place stylistically.”
The band have not worked together since their 2004 tour with Blink 182 and Young says this has been a good thing for the band.
He said: “We’ve been together since 1987 and we never took a break until three summers ago. Now the break’s been pretty long, so I think we’re not burning anymore. It’s kind of nice to be hungry again.”
The album is expected to be released in 2008.
