Oasis, Razorlight and the Kaiser Chiefs are among a number of bands who have recorded their own versions of songs off the Beatles’, ‘Sgt Pepper’ album.
To mark the fortieth anniversary of the record, classic tracks have been re-recorded using the same studio equipment as the original as part of an upcoming radio broadcast.
Bryan Adams and The Magic Numbers were also involved in the sessions, which were overlooked by Geoff Emerick – the engineer of the original album.
Adams was given the task of recording the title track of the album, whilst Razorlight – minus Johnny Borrell – recorded ‘With A Little Help From My Friends.’ With Borrell absent, Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows sang on the song, a move which mirrored Ringo Starr’s vocal role on the original version.
Part One of the sessions air on BBC Radio 2 on June 2nd, with Part Two airing on June 16th.
