The world needs another bunch of post-Libs janglesmiths much like it needs another branch of Tesco, and these 18/19 year-old Londoners aren't doing themselves any favours by trying to compete in such an overcrowded arena. All the trademark choppy guitars and skittish drums are present and correct, and while the tune is pleasant enough, it's marred by dreadful rhyming-dictionary lyrics. B-side 'Hopes Away' fares much better, with a vastly catchier melody sung with a slight Robert Smith inflection, the Cure comparison heightened by a bassline that recalls 'Lovecats'. Adequate, then, but there are others doing it better. And do we really have to do it at all?
