A remote highland village with a population of 350 will hold a major festival in honour of John Lennon in September.
The John Lennon Northern Lights Festival will take place in the village of Durness and will feature live performances, film screenings and poetry recitals.
The festival will include performances from the Royal Academy of Music who will perform a world premiere of a Beatles Prom, Mr Hudson & The Library and former Christmas chart toppers, Nizlopi.
Lennon spent much of his time around the village, which is the most north-westerly village in the United Kingdom, and is understood to have taken his wife, Yoko Ono, son Julian and daughter Kyoko there in 1969.
As well as the live performances, there will be a dance event In Britain’s largest sea cave.
The festival has been fully endorsed by Lennon’s family, with many expected to take part in the festivities.
Tickets for the festival, which runs from 28th-30th September, are on sale now.
