George Michael Admits Drug Addiction

George Michael has been preaching the benefits of cannabis again and has admitted to an addiction to prescription drugs.

Talking about a recent incident where he was found slumped at the wheel of his car in London, the singer told chat show host, Michael Parkinson:

"It involves prescribed drugs and it involves a dependency on them and the tendency to chase one drug with another because of side effects."

The star went on to blame his erratic behaviour and tendency to nod off at the wheel of his car on an attention-seeking and "self-destructive" impulse brought on by the death of his mother ten years ago.

Michael is due to appear for sentencing on charges of driving while unfit through drugs at Brent magistrates' court in North-West London on May 30.
