Keith Richards looks set to embark on a tour of publishing houses this summer in an attempt to get his autobiography released.
According to Richards’s press agent, Ed Victor, The Rolling Stones lead guitarist will head to New York in July to pitch his ideas for the book – which will document the rocker’s memoirs.
Richards does not want to unveil his rock and roll antics cheaply, however. One publishing executive has said that Richards is “looking for at least five million dollars” for the book, adding that, “he wants to make more than Eric Clapton.”
It’s understood that Eric Clapton received just under five million dollars for his book, ‘Clapton: The Autobiography,’ which will be released in October.
Victor – who also represented Clapton in his search for a publisher – told the New York Post that Richards’s book could become "the greatest rock 'n' roll book of all time."
It’s not the first time a Rolling Stones member has pitched an idea for a book. In the early 1980’s Mick Jagger received a deal worth $1.6 million, which he later turned down however because “he couldn't remember enough to do a book.”
