The chief Glastonbury booker has revealed exactly why The Rolling Stones didn’t play Glastonbury this year – they demanded £1million for the privilege.
The festival prides itself on paying much less for artists to perform than other big British festivals and say that the demand by The Stones was simply too much.
Booker Martin Elbourne told BBC6music that there was no way they could compromise on the figure.
Despite their high fee, The Rolling Stones will be playing the Isle of Wight festival as part of their never-ending tour world tour schedule.
As we told you earlier this week, Mick Jagger came under fire from his ex-wife Jerry Hall in a newspaper interview, when she claimed that the singer was “tight” with his money.
Jagger reacted by saying that these claims were “absurd.” Not quite as absurd as your booking fee Mick.

- No. But the stones fall out of them!

- Didn’t the Stones say the other week that they were never asked?

- Er...I’d be surprised if the Stones themselves had overall say in the matter anyway.

- hmmm, how good would they have really been though? tbh, if you really wanna don your stone washed denim jacket, and watch a band with your dad so he can tell you about how he first touched your mum’s boob listening to this song, The Who are playing so you wont miss out. A lot of fuss over not much.
