Justin Hawkins Slams Eurovision Losers Scooch

Sour grapes anyone?!...

Eurovision loser Justin Hawkins has rubbed salt into Scooch’s wounds, calling their flop-song “rubbish”.

The former Darkness frontman lost out to Scooch’s ‘Flying The Flag (For You)’ as the UK’s Eurovision entry, but has indulged in some schandenfraude following the pop band’s failure at Saturday’s finals.

He told Matthew Wright’s show this morning, “I think Scooch lost because they were rubbish.

“The BBC shouldn’t have put it forward. It was supposed to be different this year. The clues in the title, Eurovision Song Contest. It should have been a song.”

Justin also joked that the show’s block voting shouldn’t be criticised, because if it wasn’t for the sympathy of Ireland and Malta, the UK would have scored ‘nul points’.

  • His catsuits and high singing voice may be wonderfully camp but it’s camp in a good way. Scooch on the other hand are camp in the worst possible way.

  • I concur, everyone that voted must have been magically drunk. Scooch actually sound good when you’re drunk but the humour of their innuendo may not have translated to the Europeans. Hawkins & Brown had a bad night when they went for Making Your Mind Up but internal voting shares the qualities of block voting, they had all the anti-Justin voters against them.
