The line-up of host countries for this summer’s series of Live Earth concerts has expanded after Brazil became the eighth country to join the schedule.
The free concert – which is expected to draw crowds of up to one million people - will take place in Rio De Janeiro on the countries famous Copacabana Beach on July 7th.
The twenty-four hour series of Live earth concerts will begin in Sydney, Australia before drawing to a close at New Jersey’s Giants Stadium in the United States. Their will also be concerts in Tokyo, Japan and London’s new Wembley Stadium.
Speaking from the nearby Copacabana Palace Hotel, the events organiser, Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore spoke about the significance of the concerts: “By engaging individuals all over the world, Live Earth will drive corporations and governments to tackle the climate crisis as well,” he continued. “The climate crisis is a global problem. Live Earth is a global response.”
Although the line-up for Brazils free concert has yet to be announced, artists performing at other Live Earth concerts include the Smashing Pumpkins and Madonna.
