Pete Doherty’s former bandmate Carl Barat has claimed the singer “could end up dead in a few years".
Barat remains close to Doherty despite an acrimonious split to their band The Libertines a couple of years ago, but says the Babyshambles’ frontman’s ongoing battle with drug addiction could cost him his life.
He told The Sunday Mirror at the premiere of the new Joe Strummer documentary in London this week, “Pete ended up in the nick last week - I don't think he'll ever change.
"I love Pete like a brother and I am working with him again. But he could end up dead in a few years if he doesn't sort himself out."
