Damon Albarn Criticises Kaiser Chiefs New LP

Damon Albarn has hit The Kaiser Chiefs below the belt – he’s likened their new album to Blur’s ‘The Great Escape’.

The multi-banded singer has demonstrated a rare example of humility by admitting he’s made two bad albums – and thinks the Chiefs are suffering the same problems which resulted in his 1995 long-player.

He explains, “I've made two bad records. The first record, which is awful, and 'The Great Escape', which was messy.

"The Kaiser Chiefs' new record sounds a bit like The Great Escape in that it sounds a bit empty. Sometimes records are like that if you try too hard to repeat your success."

Yeah, both albums are pretty rubbish, aren't they?

    • Nice one Damon. I saw the Kaisers at Leeds a few years ago and since then I’ve always thought they were a poor mans Blur. Everything the Kaisers have done was done 15 years ago by Blur. Except Blur are a million times better.

    • I must be the only person in the world who thinks The Great Escape was better than Parklife. Best Days, He Thought Of Cars etc. Great songs.

    • The Great Escape is my favorite Blur album. Yuko & Hiro is one of the most beautiful songs ever made.
