Pink Floyd Peform At Syd Barrett Memorial Gig

Members of Pink Floyd performed at a Syd Barrett memorial gig in London last night.

David Gilmour and Roger Waters performed separate sets at the Barbican Centre. The pair famously fell out 25 years ago.

Waters performed a solo set, while Gilmour was joined by original Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Rick Wright to perform a selection of Barrett tracks including ‘Arnold Layne’ – the group’s very first single together.

Also performing Barrett tracks on the night were the likes of Damon Albarn, Chrissie Hynde and Robyn Hitchcock.

A huge finale at the end of the show saw everyone, except Waters, join forces on stage to sing a rendition of ‘Bike.’

Syd Barrett died at the age of 60 last year from complications linked to his diabetes problem.

    • All the performances were absolutely great, apart from Roger Waters who decided to sing one of his own self indulgent, boring songs. Otherwise a totally magical night!

    • Graham H: ”Flickering Flame” is hardly self indulgent and certainly not boring! Roger Waters had the decency to pay tribute to his friend with a poignant, if slightly nervous performance. ”When my synapses pause in my quest for applause / When my ego lets go of my end of the bone / To focus instead on the love that is precious to me / Then I shall be free / I shall be free”
