Verizon has pulled it’s sponsorship of Gwen Stefani’s North American tour due to the on-stage antics of support act, Akon.
The telecommunications company has decided to withdraw from its contract after the rapper was caught on camera dancing suggestively with a girl in her teens.
Spokesman for Verizon, Eric Rabe, told the BBC: "We had already agreed to sponsor the Stefani tour when Akon was brought in and we have kept that situation under review.
He continued: “We have now decided to withdraw and the video was part of that decision."
Gwen Stefani’s management company said that it was "surprised and shocked" by Verizon’s decision and that it was “evaluating” the final impact of the situation.
Meanwhile the tour continues, with the rapper still in support.
