The Black Angels – ‘Better Off Alone’ (Light in the Attic) Released 07/05/07

Fresh from appearances at this year's South by Southwest festival in their native Texas, The Black Angels are back with 'Better off Alone' - a sultry, slow jamming slab of droning blues rock. This is a band who claim to live in a haunted house, which might explain the spooky atmosphere they manage to conjure up in this song, which pounds out its ominous, psychedelic beats under singer Christian Bland's southern drawl. The overall effect is quite enchanting - a bit of a grower, but on each level a new level of sound comes out to impress.
