Razorlight and U2 have made the top five ‘Worst ever pop lyric’ in a new BBC poll.
Johnny Borrell’s informative yet slightly uninspirational, ‘And I met a girl/She asked me my name/I told her what it was’ from 2005’s ‘Somewhere Else’ came third in the vote for Marc Riley’s Radio 6 show.
U2’s 'Elevation' line, ‘I’ve got no self control/Been living like a mole now/Going down, excavation/High and high in the sky/You make me feel like I can flySo high/Elevation’ was fifth.
Oasis, Duran Duran and Human League also featured in the top ten, but Des’Ree beat off Snap’s notorious ‘I’m as serious as cancer/When I say rhythm is a dancer’, with her David Brent approved lyric from ‘Life’.
All together now; ‘I don’t want to see a ghost/It’s the sight that I fear most/I’d rather have a piece of toast/Watch the evening news’.
