Blur’s Dave Rowntree was beaten in the local elections last night, losing his bit to become a Labour councillor.
In the end it was the Tories who took the Marylebone seat – a ward that the party have a stronghold on.
Speaking on a video posted on YouTube, Rowntree says that the whole process has been enjoyable.
The drumer said: "It's been really good fun though, and I have really enjoyed it and I have learnt a lot. I can imagine people looking at me and thinking, 'Really? Why now?'"
Rowntree also rubbished speculation that the attempt would ruin relations with Damon Albarn – a critic of the labour party. He said: "You can disagree with someone and still be their friend."
