More Rufus Wainwright

The best way to describe Rufus Wainwright’s latest single, ‘Going To A Town’ is to imagine a hybrid of Travis, Muse and of course, a touch of Rufus’ own individual style. The song starts off with a sombre and poignant Wainwright making some highly relevant social comments, showcasing some clever lyrical and vocal stylings. As the tune continues, the rising string section lends an emotional edge whilst the soft beat gently carries the song along. As the old saying goes, this song’s much like an onion; the many layers displaying a sophistication and clear musical ability which is tough to find in today’s mainstream. This one comes highly recommended for those who enjoy a well crafted and thought-provoking musical experience.
