Alt country legends Wilco have told Gigwise that they've finally put their jinxed recording sessions behind them on new album 'Sky Blue Sky'.
Speaking on the eve of a mammoth world tour in support of the album, bassist John Stirratt called the recording of Sky Blue Sky the "easiest and most productive yet."
He added that it would signal a return to the band's more traditional roots, unlike the experimentalism of the previous three albums.
Wilco's recording sessions have been notoriously difficult in recent years. While readying their fourth album, the critically lauded 'Yankee Hotel Foxtrot,' the band was almost torn apart by internal conflicts over the direction of the record. The result, which saw two members of the group leave, and the band dropped from their label was an astonishing behind-the-scenes documentary 'I Am Trying to Break Your Heart'.
Their following record, 2004's 'A Ghost is Born' was delayed after frontman Jeff Tweedy entered rehab to beat his addiction to painkillers.
Wilco play two nights at The Shepherd's Bush Empire on May 20 and 21, before returning later in the summer to play Latitude festival. ‘Sky Blue Sky’ is released on May 14.
