John Peel’s wife has revealed that two-and-a-half years after his untimely death, people still send him their records.
Sheila Ravenscroft says that many acts still want to be a part of the legendary broadcaster’s sprawling record collection, so send in their demos.
She said: “People send in their records and ask for them to be part of his collection. It feels a bit strange but it’s nice to get them.”
Peel famously had a vast record collection of over 26,000 vinyl LPs, 40,000 singles and 40,000 CD albums. He kept the records in a specially built extension at his Suffolk home.
Mrs Ravenscroft and their four children have yet to decide what to do with the record collection.
John Peel died of a heart attack while on holiday in Peru in October 2004.
