John Lennon's Piano Goes On 'Peace' Tour

Around sites of violence...

John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ piano is to go on a peace tour around the world’s sites of past violence.

The piano, now oneed by George Michael, has already appeared on the grassy knoll in Dallas – the supposed site of John F Kennedy’s assassination.

According to the BBC it will now be photographed at the site of Martin Luther King’s asssintaion in Memphis tomorrow (April 4).

George Michael said: "The selection of the site evokes a deep sense of emotion for everyone. Capturing the image of this special piano on which a song of peace was composed is part of the heartbeat of this project."

There are also plans to make a documentary and photo album of the tour in aid of charity.

  • Fair play, it’s for charity, but this still sounds fucking ridiculous.

  • This cannot, at all, seem ridiculous. The fact that such an influentual song, composed by such an influentual man on this very piano means the world to not only Lennon and Beatles fans but to people touched by the movement and to individuals apting for peace itself. For one to call this ”fucking ridiculous” makes one seem like they are disregarding the cause, and looking past the importance of the purpose.

  • It’s about raising awareness! I applaud Michael for allowing it to happen; we need John Lennon’s message now more than ever! R.I.P., John. Power To The People! Give Peace A Chance!

  • It’s a piano. Not a historic peace treaty. John Lennon had a good cause, but he certainly didn’t go the right way about it. Staying in bed for peace anyone? I do that every Sunday. The world will never be stopped in it’s tracks by a song, let alone an instrument.
