Frank N Dank – ‘The EP’ (Dopeness Galore) Released 14/05/07

Though not yet a household name, Frank N Dank have toured with the late but eternally respected Jay Dee and with their new EP – aptly titled ‘The EP’ – the duo are now themselves making headway on their own quest for mainstream acceptance and recognition within the hip hop community. ‘The EP’ weighs in at a whopping 11 tracks but includes five short skits. Of the six full-length tracks, the best happens to be the least obviously hip hop flavoured offering. ’Spitkicker’ is a downtempo monster of a tune with all the hallmarks of an East London broken beat ditty but with a hip hop beat and an almost monotonous delivery of the line “It ain’t nuttin’ but a party y’all!” And perhaps with that verdict, the Frank N Dank boys sum up the ethos of the EP – good quality dancefloor hip hop to make the heads bounce. Can’t complain.
