Modest Mouse have stormed to the top of the American charts with their fifth album ‘We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank.’
Their first number one sold 129,000 copies in its first week of sales, beating Joss Stone who shifted 118,000 units of ‘Introducing Joss Stone’ at number two.
It’s a marked contrast from Modest Mouse’s last effort, 2004’s ‘Good News For People Who Love Bad News’, which entered at number 19, selling 68,000 copies.
The band’s latest effort gets its UK release this coming Monday (April 2) through Columbia Records. The single ‘Dashboard’ follows on May 28.
