Glastonbury festival has been granted a four year license by Mendip Council today (March 27).
The news means that this year’s festival has been given the green light to go ahead, plus Glastonbury will not need to apply for a fresh license in the next four ensuing years.
The decision came after a day of discussion yesterday where local residents, police and other interested parties voiced their concerns about the festival.
As well as the four year license Glastonbury was also given permission to extend the capacity of the site to 177,500.
A clause in the contract does mean that local residents do not have the chance to discuss fresh issues each year.
Meanwhile, tickets for the June extravaganza go on sale from 9am this coming Sunday (April 1).
