Five O’Clock Heroes- ‘Skin Deep’ (Glaze) Released 19/03/07

‘Skin Deep’ is one of those tunes that you can’t get out of your head. The jangly guitars that remind you of The Stranglers, catchy riffs that are held well beside the strong and steady beat, all perfectly offset by vocals that more than smack of Johnny Ramone. This is such a ****ing blinding song- it’s upbeat but sultry, it’s full of hooks and will sure as hell have you bopping along if not dancing. B-side ‘Every Night, All Night Long’ is a gorgeous acoustic number that compliments ‘Skin Deep’ perfectly as it’s a simple and stripped down style of their electric sound. The vocals come out flawlessly on this one and really make the lyrics stand out- “There’s a man who tells you he won’t leave you and he wont/He keeps his dreams at home/Every night all night long”.  This single is one that’ll leave you reeling once you’ve heard it and then instantly demanding more.
