The Darkness Confirm They Are No More

But don't get too excited...

Purveyors of shite mock-rock, The Darkness, have officially called it quits.

But before you start those obligatory celebrations, the remaining members of the band (minus Eurovision flop Justin Hawkins) are going to carry on under a new moniker.

Bassist Richie Edwards, who made the announcement on thedarkness.com, is set to take over vocal duties.

He wrote: "I can absolutely confirm here and now that we will not be carrying on under the name 'The Darkness'.

"We are literally days aways from announcing our new name, when this is done we will be launching our new website and we sincerely hope that you guys will be paying it a visit.

"I can't wait for this album to be finished and for you all to hear it, it'll knock your ****in' socks off!"

Erm, we doubt it.

Another fine example of Gigwise backing a band until they make it big then following the backlash. Anyone who sees the early reviews of the band, and many others, will see it happens to the majority of new bands featured on here.

Permision To Land is a nailed on classic. Calling a band shite in a news item is a classic too.

They are ****ing shite! *** - seen as the first feature done on them on Gigwise says they’re rubbish - thats hardly backing a band!
