Arcade Fire entered the American Billboard chart at number two yesterday.
Their second opus ‘Neon Bible’ sold 92,000 copies Stateside in its first week of sales.
It was just 7,000 sales behind Notorious BIG’s ‘Greatest Hits’ which claimed the top spot. The Canadians’ album also took the top spot in the Rock and Independent charts.
Incredibly, Arcade Fire’s previous effort ‘Funeral’ had its highest ever chart position at #131.
‘Neon Bible’ also entered the UK charts at number two on Sunday, behind Kaiser Chiefs’ ‘Yours Truly, Angry Mob.’
Arcade Fire’s chart success follows that of The Shins in January who took the number two slot with ‘Wincing The Night Away.’
