London Band Beats Gig World Record

A North London band has broken a world record by playing an impressive 27 gigs in just 12 hours.

Three piece the Buck Brothers started their mammoth jaunt in Leicester Square early yesterday morning (March 5).

They then took in various venues around London in Camden, Soho and Islington before finishing back in Leicester Square last night. A Guiness Book of Record judicator was present to confirm the World Record.

They smashed the record previously held by the German outfit Kansas City in 2004, who performed 26 shows in 12 hours.

Buck Brothers were planning on playing 30 gigs by 11pm, but they were hit by some problems with some venues cancelling their shows.

Band member Andy Duke told the BBC: “We're absolutely ecstatic," said band member Andy Duke. "In the face of adversity, I mean everything that could go wrong did go wrong.

"We had to swap bits of the PA system and much more, however we had to make the best of a bad situation.

"It was a real challenge. But we did it. I'm delighted, it's fantastic."
