With each passing year, Brett Anderson slips ever further from the promise of the first two Suede albums. So much so that ‘Love is Dead’ could well be read as a titular metaphor for his career. Seriously, it’s hard to see how this drivel ever made it to the studio, let alone out of it. A string-obscured affair with fifth-form lyrics so dreary you wonder if he’s even read a book since Dog Man Star, this is the sound of Anderson trying to out-bland Richard Ashcroft. And – incredibly – he succeeds. What’s going on Brett? Didn’t you have star quality once? Offensively bad.

- What the hell? You are so wrong!
I’d give my reasons but I don’t like spending more time writing a comment than the reviewer does writing the review. 4/5
