Jesus And Mary Chain bassist Phil King has revealed he never thought he would see the day the band reformed.
The Glaswegians split acrimoniously in 1998 but are now set to play a one off show at this year’s Coachella festival.
King told 6 Music: "I was very surprised about it. I didn't think it was going to happen.
“One of the reasons is because Jim's (Reid, found of the band along with brother William) wife is about to have a baby so we thought it would be too difficult, but it seems we're doing it now and it's great."
King also revealed that drumming duties will be taken up by former Ride man Loz for the Coachella show.
And speaking about what the set will consist of he said: "I spoke to William a couple of days ago and I was asking him about it and he said 'oh, just learn 21 Songs ' which is the greatest hits, so it should be just all the hits."
The band are yet to confirm any other live dates but King says they will see how Coachella goes first before deciding on further touring.
