Elliott Smith is set to remembered with a new double CD of songs from the early stage of his career.
Titled ‘New Moon’, the collection features 24 songs recorded from 1994-7 – a period that is regarded as the most prolific in his life and when he recorded his eponymous debut and ‘Either/Or’.
The album, released on May 7 through Domino Records, has been mixed by Larry Crane, who is also the archivist for Elliott Smith’s estate.
A proportion of the proceeds will be donated to the charity ‘Outside In’, based in Portland, Oregon which helps the homeless and those on a low income.
Elliott Smith died on October 21, 2003 at his home in Los Angeles.
