Jack Savoretti – ‘Dreamers’ (De Angelis) Released 12/02/07

Erm………“whatever happened to the dreamers?” Mr Jack Savoretti sings in his slightly dusky voice near the start of this song. Which is funny, because on listening to this all you will want to do is go to sleep and dream about something with a bit more edge, with a less sickly, nauseating last song at a teen disco sound to it.

There are comparisons to Nick drake being made. To compare the two is a fallacy of grandiose proportions and quite frankly such obnoxious revelations should be kept to the school yard. James Blunt and Enrique inglesas more like. To his credit he has a voice that is capable of more and seams barely used in this offering. The amount of praise that is being heaped on him must be based in a musical reality not to far from this one so no doubt he has talent, but he will have to step it up and use some of it rather than being wasted on a tame offering such as this.

  • saw Jack supporting Shawn Colvin in London Nov 29th. This guy can really cut the mustard..So many average singer/songwriters out there at the moment. But this guy can and will deliver.very respectable debut album. Well worth listening to with a promise of more to come.

  • Well, I know I am biased having met the man, and listened to his singing, but I seriously think he is very good. He deserves a break and when he gets one which he will he appears so level headed I don’t think for one minute it will affect him or his singing. Good luck Jack go for it
