Justin Timberlake performed a cover of Elvis Presley’s ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ this week to mark what would have been the great man’s birthday.
The acclaimed pop star played the rendition on the opening date of his world tour in San Diego, California on Monday (January 8).
He told the crowd: “It is Elvis’s birthday. Since I am from Memphis I’m going to sing a song.”
The performance seemed to have duel relevance in the light of his recent split with Cameron Diaz.
Timberlake added: “Sometimes love can’t be that easy so I’m going to do these songs.”
Elvis Presley would have been 72 on Monday.
