The Darkness have signalled their intent to soldier on despite the loss of charismatic singer Justin Hawkins by apparently replacing him with their bass player.
According to the Daily Star – who, let’s face it, could be just making this up – the mock-rock band will now be fronted by Richie Edwards, who joined the band last year to replace the acrimoniously departed original member Frankie Poullain.
Toby McFarland will be drafted in to take over Edwards’ (not to be confused with the late Manics' lyricist) bass plucking duties, as the band enter the studio to record their third album – which we can confidently predict will be as about as popular as a Bernard Manning gig in a Mosque.
