In a bizarre move, The Kooks have thanked the Arctic Monkeys for their phenomenal success.
Despite a slow start to 2006, after smash singles such as ‘Naïve’, Luke Pritchard and co. remained in the album chart top ten with ‘Inside In/Inside Out’ for the majority of the year selling over a million copies.
And Pritchard believes the commotion around the Arctic Monkeys at the start of the year shielded them from the public glare and enabled them to grow steadily instead.
He beamed to the NME: “God bless the Arctic Monkeys because if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have been so shielded.
“We were so overshadowed by the success (of ‘Whatever People Think I Am That’s What I’m Not’) that we crept in behind everybody’s back.
“Arctic Monkeys shielded us from getting to much attention.”
