Take That’s dominance of the charts has continued as the band held on to their number one single and album this weekend.
Spurred on by some high profile TV appearances, the boy band scored a fourth week at number one with the single ‘Patience’, while ‘Beautiful World’ stayed at the top for a third week.
However stiff competition in the singles chart came from Sir Cliff Richard who entered at number two with his diatribe ‘21st Century Christmas.’ It was the aging star’s first top five entry since 1999.
Despite Take That’s dominance all is set to change next week, when X Factor winner Leona Lewis will chart with her song ‘A Moment Like This.’
Elsewhere in the chart, Gwen Stefani was at two with ‘Wind It Up’, while ‘Smack That’ by Eminem and Akon was at five.
The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl climbed the charts to number 10 with their seminal Christmas smash ‘Fairytale of New York.’
In the run-up to the festive period there were no new notable entries in the album chart, with the top ten mainly consisting of greatest hits packages.
