Kerrang Awards Winners

This year’s Kerrang! Awards took place at London venue The Brewery last night (27/08), with the Darkness securing two awards despite them being dominated by US bands.

The show, presented by former Stereophonic Stuart Cable saw the new Icon Award bagged by MC5, with Best British Newcomer award being won by Yourcodenameis:milo, Classic Songwriter by Ash and Best Album going to Muse.

The Darkness won Best Live Band and Best British Band, "They have sold more records, played to more people, been on the cover of more magazines and won more awards than anybody would have dreamed of just 18 months ago.

"It's all thoroughly deserved for the band who gave rock back its sense of fun," said the show's organisers reports the BBC.

Rock n roll guests causing havoc and taking advantage of the free 1,000 absinthe shots, 14,200 bottles of beer, 150 litres of vodka and 4,200 vodka sea breezes were joined by Velvet Revolver and Goldie Lookin’ Chain.
