Good mate of US rockers Midlake, Robert Gomez provides a tale of love and loss through mysterious melodies and Elliot Smith style vocals on Closer Still, a short take from the album Brand New Towns out in January next year. However, instead of delivering the intended enchantedness from his Cuban guitars, accordions, and other interesting arrangements, the whole this sounds just that little bit ordinary. On the lines of Joseph Arthur, but sadly without the power and prowess.
