The Parisian based group gained many fans after the release of their debut in 2000. High profile admirers included Oscar winning director Sofia Coppola. Sofia used ‘Too Young’ taken from the bands debut album, on the soundtrack for the movie ‘Lost in translation,’ which was a Golden Globe winner earlier this year.
The group met at school in Versailles, where they grew up. Interestingly Phoenix insist on singing only in English, making themselves extremely unpopular in their native land.
Their latest release Alphabetical has been their only offering since the release of United four years ago. Since the albums release the band have supported Dido on her European tour and have opened the Christian Dior shop in Tokyo.
