Punk Rockers The New York Dolls are to honour their live commitments following the tragic death of their bassist Arthur Kane.

Kane died in July following complications related to leukaemia just after the band had reunited to play at the Meltdown Festival in London.

Although no long term decisions have been made regarding the future of the reunited band they will play all of their scheduled UK and US gigs this summer with a replacement bassist.

Frontman David Johansen told the New York Times: "We don't have any long-term plans or anything. We're honouring our commitments, and that's as far as we have any idea about.

"We've never had any kind of Maoist five-year plan anyway, nor have I with anything I've done.

"Everything I've done I've just fallen into. Most bands are commercial enterprises. But I'm not in one of those bands."

The Dolls are to play Belfast's Vital Festival on August 25 and the Reading and Leeds Festivals on August 28 and 29.
