Right now The Killers could probably go for shit and return with a block of 24 carat gold and, rather worryingly, the world seems intent on following their glimmering path rather than halting and asking if the standard they once set is being maintained. The fact of the matter is that ‘Bones’, while not a poor single, is a decidedly mixed bag for just under 4 minutes of music. It sums up the charming glamour and grandeur of their sophomore effort ‘Sams Town’ but also feels like a distinctly unmemorable slab of pop in the cold light of day. Brandon Flowers voice is strong enough to make sure it’s not drab and lifeless but judging by the strength of this (and their album for that matter) shouldn’t we stop and ask: are the golden boys losing their touch?
