The Heights are a mixed bunch of musicians; their frontman Owain Ginsberg ranges from gruff Humanzi-style vocals right through to Bruce Springsteen-esque melodics. His bandmates meanwhile offer a sharper, dark edge to their music (‘Bad News’) which in turn crosses over with pure indie-pop (‘Night Relay’). The only possible conclusion is that what we have here is a rather off-kilter eclectic band with an exciting new EP of songs to listen to. ‘Jamaica Beer Eyes’ is a quirky little rock song with a rougher edge thanks to Ginsberg’s singing and this is the theme throughout. With a rock n roll kick to their music and a few welcome sharp edges the future looks bright for The Heights.
