Pain For Penis Punishment

Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins had his penis pierced as a punishment to himself for cheating on his girlfriend.

Hawkins explains that he gets a piercing to mark occasions when he has done something wrong.

He decided upon the penis piercing after he cheated on his long-term girlfriend and manager Sue Whitehouse at Christmas.

Hawkins said: "Whenever I have a down I always put a piercing in to mark it. I was miserable when I had my nipple done,” he explained to The Sun.

"And I was even more miserable when I had my c**k done. Me and Sue split up. I didn't like myself much. I thought, what's the most painful place to have a piercing?"

In other Darkness news, the band have pulled out of a New York concert they were due to play in September to concentrate on their new album.

The band were due to play at the two day event with The Strokes, James Brown, the Doors, Bo Diddley, Lenny Kravitz and Velvet Revolver on September 17 and 18.

Event's sponsors the Miller Brewing Company have issued a statement: "We will miss the Darkness in New York, but our line-up remains impressive and just got stronger with Alice Cooper, Ben Folds and Melissa Auf Der Mar being recently added to the bill."
